Make your own Fabric Flowers for your Head or Heart
Aim: In this one day workshop each participant will create a fabric flower without flower making tools. The flower will be used to make a small headpiece or brooch using millinery straw (sinamay) to embellish.
In this class the participants will:
Be shown how to create a flower with fabric without needing specialised flower making tools
Be introduced to one type of millinery straw, sinamay, and shown how to manipulate it to create a striking trim
Be shown how to mount the flower and trim on a headband or brooch
Be introduced to some elements of design to consider when making and wearing headwear/hats
Prerequisites: This class is appropriate for people who do not have any millinery experience. Some experience or proficiency with hand sewing would be helpful.
Date: Saturday 13 January 2018 Time: 9.30am until 3.30pm There are 8 places available in the class. Tutor: Rachael Henson
The cost includes materials for making the fabric flowers. Participants will need to bring basic hand sewing materials (a list of required items will be sent to you before the class).
