About your teachers
Bernadette Thomas Bernadette Thomas has been sewing in some form for over 37 years. She originally started dressmaking at a series of sewing shop classes in Tuggeranong in the early 1990's before finally formalising her qualifications at the Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) where she completed her Certificate IV in Garment Production (Dressmaking, Patternmaking and Fitting) in 2003/4. This was followed by a Clothing Design and Colour in Fashion module in 2009. Bernadette was the Chair Person (Industry Representative) on the panel that restructured the CIT Certificate IV (Garment Production) in 2008/9 and has worked with a number of fashion parade productions.
Bernadette has been running a hugely successful and popular series of classes at her shop in Fyshwick. All classes will move to CARDIF Collective from August 2016. Indi Wrigley Indi Wrigley was originally taught to sew by her Nanna, who then gave her a sewing machine for her 16th birthday. Over the years, the machine had sporadic use with Indi mainly making outfits out of Christmas fabric. About five years ago, Indi went back to basics and was re=taught how to sew by Bernadette Thomas. This quickly became her passion (some might say obsession) and she is very keen to help others discover the fun of sewing.
Indi has received prize ribbons for sewing at the Canberra Show, been taught how to deliver adult training (in her previous life as a public servant) and holds a 'Working with vulnerable people' registration. Indi will be teaching Learn to Sew classes from March 2017.
